Accident Insurance for Lutz Residents

When a covered injury happens, like a fractured wrist or a ride in an ambulance, an accident plan pays you a fixed sum. You can put it toward your deductible or your rent. Before you choose, we show you how each plan's benefit schedule works.

What accident insurance is, and what it is not

Accident insurance is a supplemental plan. It does not replace your major medical coverage, and it does not count as minimum essential coverage under the ACA. What it does is pay a fixed cash benefit for specific events listed in the policy: a fracture, a dislocation, stitches for a laceration, an ambulance trip, a hospital admission, follow-up visits. The check usually goes to you, not the clinic, and you decide how to spend it.

That matters most for people on a plan with a high deductible. A fall off a ladder can mean imaging, a specialist visit and physical therapy, all billed before your health plan starts sharing costs. An accident policy is built to fill part of that gap.

We are an independent insurance agency, so we can lay out accident plans from different carriers next to each other and walk through the benefit schedule line by line. If you do not yet have primary coverage, our Individual Health Insurance and ACA Marketplace Plans pages are the better place to start.

What we cover when we review accident plans with you

  1. 01

    Reading the benefit schedule

Every accident policy has a schedule that lists each covered event and the dollar amount it pays. We go through it with you so you know what a closed fracture pays versus an open one, and how much a hospital day or an ambulance ride is worth under each plan.

  2. 02

    On-the-job versus off-the-job coverage

Certain policies limit benefits to injuries you suffer off the clock, because the carrier expects workers' compensation to pick up anything that happens while you are working. Other policies pay for a covered injury no matter where it occurs. We check which version fits your work, especially if you are self-employed and have no workers' comp.

  3. 03

    Exclusions spelled out

Policies commonly exclude injuries tied to intoxication, intentional self-harm or certain high-risk activities. We point to the exact exclusion language so nothing catches you off guard after a claim.

  4. 04

    Comparing carriers

We shop 50+ insurance carriers, which lets us show you how different companies price similar benefits. Two plans with the same premium can pay very different amounts for the same injury.

  5. 05

Fitting it to your health plan

We start from the coverage you already carry, noting the deductible and the yearly cap on what you pay yourself. Then we pick accident benefit amounts that sit alongside those figures rather than duplicating them.

When an accident plan makes sense

  • Your deductible runs into the thousands

When a single injury could eat your whole deductible before your health plan chips in, a cash accident benefit eases the blow.

  • You are your own boss

Many contractors and gig workers carry no workers' compensation. A plan that pays for injuries on the job closes that hole.

  • Your children are in sports

Sprains and broken bones are common in youth football, soccer and cheer. A family tier can put every child on a single accident policy.

  • You spend a lot of time outside

Boating, biking and weekend projects under the Florida sun all come with injury risk. The benefit pays on the injury itself, no matter what your health plan paid.

  • Time off work would strain your budget

The plan pays you in cash, so the money can cover groceries or a car note while you heal.

How a consultation works

  1. 1

    A short call

You tell us who needs coverage, what your current health plan looks like and what kind of work you do. That takes a few minutes and costs you nothing.

  2. 2

    Side-by-side options

We pull accident plans from multiple carriers and compare them on the same events: fracture payouts, hospital admission, ambulance and follow-up visits. You see the premium next to what each plan actually pays.

  3. 3

    Questions answered in plain English

We explain terms like benefit schedule, per-occurrence limit and off-job rider until they make sense. You can meet at our office or talk it through by phone or video.

  4. 4

    Enrollment, if you want it

If one plan fits, we help you complete the application. If none does, we tell you that and you owe us nothing.

What drives the cost of an accident plan

Accident coverage tends to be one of the less expensive supplemental plans, though prices still differ. The premium turns on how much each event pays and who is on the policy. We show how every choice shifts the monthly price before you sign.

How much each benefit pays
Many carriers sell low, middle and high schedules. The higher the schedule, the more it pays per fracture or hospital day, and the more it costs each month.
Who is covered
A policy for you alone is cheaper than one that adds a spouse or kids. For active children, a family tier is often the easiest route.
Whether on-the-job injuries count
Plans that also pay for injuries at work usually cost more than plans that cover only injuries off the job.
Riders you add
Extras like added hospital confinement benefits increase the premium. We help you judge whether a rider is worth it for you.

Common questions about accident plans

Can an accident plan take the place of health insurance?

No. It is a supplemental plan that pays set amounts for injuries on its list. It does not cover illness, checkups or ongoing care, and it does not meet ACA coverage rules. You still need a main health plan.

Where does the claim payment go?

Most carriers mail the payment to you, not to the doctor or hospital. You decide where it goes, whether that is your deductible, a copay or your power bill. We check how each carrier pays before you pick.

Do I have to wait before coverage kicks in?

Plenty of accident plans have a short waiting period for injuries or none at all, though this differs by carrier and benefit. We review the start date and any waiting terms on every plan we show you.

Is buying through you more expensive than buying direct?

No. The consultation is free, and our review of your options costs you nothing. The carrier you choose pays us, so you never get a bill from our agency.

Can I buy accident coverage outside open enrollment?

In most cases, yes. Most individual accident policies, unlike ACA plans, are available year-round. We check each carrier's enrollment rules on the call.
